Named after Virginian statesman Richard Bland, RBC was established in 1960 by the Virginia General Assembly as a branch of the College of William & Mary and was once under the umbrella of "the Colleges of William & Mary". Though self-functioning, Richard Bland College is governed by William & Mary's Board of Visitors.
Richard Bland College of William & Mary is a selective, residential, two-year College that provides a rich learning experience at a reasonable cost for students preparing for transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. Richard Bland students rate our professors among the best in the region, yet tuition and fees are among the lowest.
As an extension of William & Mary, Richard Bland College prepares students for university transfer through academically rigorous programs grounded in the liberal arts tradition. The unique teaching and learning environment at Richard Bland College allows high potential international students to focus their studies and benefit from RBC’s small class sizes, one-on-one personalized academic advising and dedicated support to ensure a successful and smooth transfer process.
