This programme offers successful students guaranteed progression* to the University of Sunderland. Students will study their Foundation programme at the state-of-the-art Centre located at the heart of the University of Sunderland City campus.This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at the University of Sunderland. All students who successfully complete the UFP are guaranteed placement on a suitable programme of undergraduate study at the University of Sunderland. The UFP is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the UK.This programme lasts one term of additional English language followed by one academic year. The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.English Language forms up to six hours of the timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if students need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable.
