Coast Mountain College (previously known as Northwest Community College) is a publicly funded, government accredited, public post-secondary educational institution. Founded in 1975, the College serves eleven communities in the spectacularly beautiful Northwestern region of British Columbia, Canada. It is a student-centered College offering a full range of academic degree, diploma, and certificate programs in Arts, Business, Health, Science, and University Credits Arts and Science for international students; all of which provide excellent exposure to Canadian life and culture.
In as little as two years, students can complete an Associate Degree in Arts or Science. For those who wish to continue their studies, all Associate Degree courses are equivalent to university courses and can be transferred to other post-secondary institutions. The Business Administration one-year certificate and the two-year diploma programs offer a well-rounded business education and a solid background for a wide range of professional career choices and further educational opportunities. The Applied Coastal Ecology program delivers the applied biological and ecological skills needed to work in coastal ecosystems. With many options of programs, Coast Mountain College provides quality learning experiences that help prepare students for successful, positive futures.
Smithers campus is connected to the rich cultures of the area, the rugged landscapes and breathtaking vistas. The Gold LEED building, flooded with natural light and heated with Geothermal energy features wood, rock and Indigenous art throughout. This serves to represent three themes—forestry, resource management and Indigenous culture. The themes symbolize Coast Mountain College’s connection and commitment to the communities of the Northwest. The building houses a large gathering area and bright learning facilities. With advanced technology with video conferencing and distance education capabilities we offer a variety of instructor-led and online courses. There are classroom spaces, wet and dry science labs, a multi-purpose shop for trades programs, a library and bookstore, a computer lab and one flexible-use lab.

Quality Instruction: Coast Mountain College is a student-centered institution and students can use their transfer credits to apply to various university programs. International students can easily transfer from language training to other post-secondary programs as well.
