Lakeland College - Vermilion Campus

Vermillion, Alberta | Public University | Established 1913

About us

When Lakeland College opened in 1913, there were only 34 students enrolled. Today we have campuses in Vermilion and Lloydminster, over 60 programs, and more than 7,000 full-time and part-time students - but Lakeland is as tight-knit as ever. The reason for Lakeland’s success is its people-centred culture.

Lakeland College's mission is to inspire lifelong learning and leadership through experience, excellence, and innovation and our vision is to transform the future through innovative learning. Our values include learner success, integrity, respect, community, excellence, and innovation. At Lakeland College:

Students are supported and engaged with their learning and, as a result, are better prepared for the labour market or further learning.

Students have access to training that strongly aligns with labour market needs. Research efforts support economic innovation.

Lakeland ensures that all resources are in place to engage community partners in educational pursuits and to provide information to prospective, current, and past students.

Lakeland ensures that all resources (staff, budget, and infrastructure) are focused on providing a stable and meaningful learning experience for students.

Why Lakeland College

When we asked our current and prospective international students why they chose Lakeland College, their top 3 reasons were all very similar:

For high quality education

For immigration opportunities

For the opportunity to experience another culture, and more specifically Canada

Those are exactly why we think Lakeland College is a good choice for you. We are proud that our reputation is built on a proven ability to offer students the crucial skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen career. Our top quality education is affordable and rich in hands-on, live the learning experiences. Our reputation has been strengthened by satisfied students recommending us to their friends and colleagues. In fact, some of our international students have been recommended by their family and friends who came to Lakeland. Because we are located on the Canadian prairies in a small town and small city, we also offer some unique experiences that you might not get in a larger centre. Those larger centres, such as Edmonton, are less than 3 hours away.
