About us

North Island College (NIC) is honoured to acknowledge the traditional territories of the combined 35 First Nations of the Nuu-chah-nulth, Kwakwaka’wakw and Coast Salish traditions, on whose traditional and unceded territories the college’s campuses are situated.

North Island College is a comprehensive community college that focuses on student success. NIC proudly serves more than 9,000 students annually at four campuses, a learning centre and through online and in-community learning. NIC is distinguished by their commitment to student success through strong partnership agreements with universities and colleges across BC, the US and around the world. NIC has been internationally recognized for its technology-enabled distance learning and responsive in-community programs.

Campus & Facilities: NIC- Comox Valley is located in Courtenay, on British Columbia's Vancouver Island. Facilities include a library, science labs, cafeteria, a theatre, and more.

Accessibility: There are a variety of ways to access the Comox Valley campus including by vehicle or by transit. Bike shelters are available for cyclists and a network of trails through the wooded areas of campus connect to nearby residential areas.

Location: Courtenay is a city on the east coast of Vancouver Island, in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is the largest community and only city in the area commonly known as the Comox Valley. Students can fly to Comox Valley campus from Vancouver or Calgary or they can take a ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo and then bus to Courtenay.

Winter Intake - January - Many Courses for students who missed fall intake.

Summer - April - Not all Universities offer courses in Spring Intake.
