With 15,000 students from 130 countries worldwide, The University of Chester provides a vibrant, diverse and safe home for international students.

The university is one of the oldest higher education providers in the United Kingdom having recently celebrated its 180th year of teaching, starting off as a teacher training college back in 1839. Originally based on one campus in Chester, the university now offers more than 200 single and combined honour’s programmes across a number of specialist sites in Chester, Shrewsbury and Warrington. Courses have an emphasis on practical learning to enhance prospects via industry placements or overseas opportunities, ranging from five-weeks to one-year.

Following more than 41,000 student reviews across 150 UK Universities, the University of Chester finished second in the best for international students' category at the 2020 WhatUni? Student Choice Awards. This national recognition, voted for by current international students, is testament to the university’s commitment to providing international students with the very best experience and support.

Why University of Chester - Riverside Campus, Chester?

Location: Located within the lively city centre of Chester and overlooking the River Dee. The University took ownership of the former County Hall in Chester in 2010 and transformed it into the Riverside Campus building, which is just a 20-minute walk from the main Chester Campus, Parkgate Road. Riverside Campus provides students with amazing subject-specific facilities and a practical approach to learning.

Education and Children’s Services: The University of Chester’s reputation for providing teaching excellence was acknowledged by Ofsted, who awarded the Faculty with ‘Outstanding’ status for primary and secondary programmes (Ofsted Report 2016). Subject-specific facilities such as a science lab and an art and DT space bring learning to life. Students have access to a wealth of teaching aids and can practise teaching in a classroom or early years setting. Students are taught by staff who are experienced researchers, actively developing new ideas, information and methods in the field of Education.

Health and Social Care: Chester’s new simulation suite emulates diverse healthcare spaces, ranging from a patient’s home and community clinic settings to acute care settings, including a Triage Assessment Area, Maternity Delivery Suite, Children’s Ward and a General Ward. Patient simulators and virtual reality technology will immerse students in the learning experience, and support the development of their skill set before they enter the working world. Chester is also well positioned within the North West to network and collaborate with key influencers, including local NHS Trusts and Local Authorities.
