About us

Ohio Wesleyan’s goal is to provide every student with transformational experiences that will prepare them for the causes, careers, and graduate school opportunities they want to pursue.

It does that through close relationships with faculty-mentors—and through a unique academic program called The OWU Connection.

OWU is one of the most comprehensive liberal arts schools in the United States. It is one of only 45 schools featured in Colleges That Change Lives and is ranked in the top 100 national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. OWU’s breadth of more than 90 majors includes Business, Data Analytics, Fine Arts, Communication, and Education; scientific fields such as Neuroscience and Zoology; and a wide range of pre-professional areas, including Medicine, Law, Public Administration, and Engineering.

Why Ohio Wesleyan University

  • Campus Life: At OWU, they want students to satisfy every curiosity and explore every opportunity—classes, clubs, the arts, sports, and service. This is a fully residential campus, and the OWU experience goes 24/7. Something's always happening at Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, and their residence halls, Greek houses, and SLUs are alive with activity.

  • Facilities: The campus of Ohio Wesleyan University is their laboratory for learning. The campus and its facilities create and contribute to the sense of campus community. The facilities provide the context for their teaching and learning. OWU affirms that facilities on their campus should support and promote premier programming; make an impact on the hearts and in the minds of visitors, alumni, students, parents, faculty and staff; and stand the test of time. OWU will make significant investment in their campus facilities and grounds in order to enhance their educational experience, create greater opportunity for seminars and tutorials, provide space for on-campus engaged learning, and foster a vibrant, close-knit community.

  • The Student Experience: The OWU Connection is students' pathway to a better future. From Day One, students will be guided as they create their personalized OWU Connection program from a portfolio of Connection experiences. Students' pathway can include interdisciplinary learning, travel, research, creative projects, and internships, all proven to prepare them for the causes, careers, and graduate school opportunities that they want to pursue.

  • Athletics: Ohio Wesleyan's rich athletic tradition reaches back to the 19th century, when they hosted the first football game played by Ohio State University. Their great scholar-athletes include Branch Rickey, who would one day sign Jackie Robinson to break major league baseball's color barrier. Former OWU athletes have graduated to play in the NFL and NBA - and to become CEOs, college professors, entrepreneurs, scientists, and doctors.
